Candle magic is my favorite form of ritual work. It combines the 3 magical principles of concentration, will power and visualization to heighten your energy and bring your wishes to fruition. It continues to become an extension of your mental power and energy as it burns allowing their vibrations to fill your sacred space.
Mater Dolorosa, is known as the sorrows of Mary. The seven swords piercing the immaculate heart represents the “Seven Sorrows of Mary." The 1st one was the Prophecy of Simeon that a sword would pierce her soul because of her son’s death, the 2nd was their flight into Egypt, the 3rd was the loss of Jesus in the Temple; the 4th was Mary watching Jesus carry the cross, the 5th was the crucifixion, the 6th was receiving his limp, cold body after the crucifixion, the last was the body of her son buried in the tomb.
From a mystical standpoint the swords piercing through the heart can also represent valuable lessons learned from difficult and painful situations. Although the swords pierce the heart and it bleeds, life remains and your reflection becomes quiet, wise. In order to adapt and evolve we must walk through the valley of the shadow of death, leave that which does not serve us behind, grieve and move forward for rebirth. This candle is a powerful symbol of rebirth, lessons learned, release and can transform you to embrace new changes.
